Day 5 - July 3rd - Wow!

Today was the most scenic day by far.  It was also one of the busiest.   I started the day in the hotel cafe for some Holiday Inn Express breakfast.   Same exact thing I had back in NY after my first night.   Guess that's is the plan from corporate.

Next I went to the front desk and asked for a late check out.  I had some things I needed to do.  They were very receptive and changed my check-out to 2:00pm.

Next was a quick stop at the UPS store to ship home all the extra stuff I packed and will never need.  The bike is much lighter now.   Not nearly as top heavy.  The nice lady at the UPS store told me I could drive 10 min and cross the border and ship it from the US and it would be a lot easier.  But with the border crossing,  I was afraid it would take to long.   I could see it now.  How long to you plan on being in the US.  Oh,  about 15 min or so.   Please step over here.

I also made a stop at the Sears across the street from the hotel to get one more (that makes 3) rapid dry shirts.  They are the best...

(Bisti - sliders all the way to the right,  just for you  :) )

Once I was done running my errands,  I hopped on the bike and headed for Wawa,  ON.

Wow!
Wow!!
Wow!!!

What an amazing ride.   about 50km of the ride is a park that goes along Lake Superior.  Ever turn presented a new view.

My room at the Mystic Isle Motel - Wawa

After I unpacked,  I headed our for a little site seeing before dinner.

Ok,  I have some apologizing to do.   I can get lost in a tin can if I am not paying attention.
Before dinner,  I road from one end of the town to the other,  about 1.5 miles.  I then stopped in to
a little restaurant that I could actually smell from the road -  That is a GOOD thing.
Inside,  I ran into this wonder group who were riding their motorcycle's around the lakes.  They are from NJ with the exception of the women in pink who is from SC.  She is also a diabetic.
We got talking,  next thing you know it,  I was sitting down with them for dinner.  What a great group. We shared some good stories and then they were heading off to their hotel,  which happen to be the same one I was staying at.  I said it was a little hard to find, it was up a dirt driveway and up a steep hill about a mile west.  YIKES!!!!  - Remember I said I could get lost in a tin can if not paying attention.  Well, this was one of those moments.  When I left the restaurant, I headed west about a mile on 17.   But I could NOT FIND THE HOTEL.  The entire town is only 1 mile long and I missed it.  After turning around and going back,  I realized IT WAS RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE RESTAURANT..   Dork Award for me.   So, to the wonderful group from NJ and SC, I sorry,  and don't ask me for directions anymore.

Remember that picture of me back a little at the scenic overview.  Well,   these are the nice ladies that took my picture.  It seams the smaller the towns get,  the more people I meet.  The women on the right is a Special Ed teacher in Ontario.  I can tell she really loves her job.  I was telling her about Matthew and some of his challenges and about Jackie and her new job in MA.  The women on the left,  who took my picture, is from South Africa.  Last year she had stage 4 lung cancer,  and here she is today, a year later,  less one lung, and cancer free.  Awesome.

I took both of these at about 10:30pm.   Everyone has warned me about the moose at night, so I was driving about 45kph just in case one pop-out.  If I tried to ride that slow at home looking for deer,  I would be run over.

Today I am going to end by including my email -  Since I meet so many nice folks who take my Throttle Across America card,  I figure I would include my email if any of you want to contact me.

Now for some pictures from the GoPro mounted on the bike.
